American Legion Baseball, in San Diego County was once a prominent region for Legion Baseball.  In the The American Legion World Series, San Diego teams were crowned National Champions in 1938, 1941, and 1954.  For whatever reason, in the 1980's it disappeared.

San Diego County Offers an abundance of youth baseball talent but limited opportunities to showcase their talent;  so in 2017, a handful of Veterans within the American Legion organization spearheaded operations to re-ignite American Legion Baseball in San Diego County.   These passionate Veterans took the mindset of "If you build it, they will come". As such, initiatives were launched towards the end of 2017 and early 2018, trenches were dug deep and the re-building phase began.

San Diego County American Legion Baseball  is honored to say that WE DID RESTORE Legion Baseball to its once prominent status. Our 2018 inaugural season provided a tremendous foundation to our future growth developing this highly competitive Legion Baseball League within our County.

The league still stands behind the traditional values upon which it was founded in 1925. American Legion Baseball has taught hundreds of thousands of young Americans the importance of sportsmanship, good health and active citizenship. The program is also a promoter of equality, making teammates out of young athletes regardless of their income levels or social standings. To compete with the local travel ball teams, San Diego County American Legion Baseball decided to make the league accessible to our County youth without concern of the financial burden placed on players or their families. There is "NO Pay to Play"!

It is important to note that the financial burden does exist and San Diego County American Legion Baseball can't afford to do this by ourselves.   Based on the continued growth and success of our 2019 season, we know that 2020 will have increased expenses to continue to provide a world class elite baseball experience at no cost to the players.

Please know the request for financial assistance is not for Veterans, it's to strengthen our communities & to allow our youth a platform to "Play Ball".

"Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer."

- Ted Williams
